Classroom teachers have seen how AI can save them time, help differentiate curriculum, and offer just-in-time support for students. Yet this technology also allows students to take cognitive shortcuts through the curriculum that educators have spent years carefully creating.

As a current classroom teacher and instructional coach at Hinsdale District 86, Arpan Chokshi experiences the promise and frustration of AI on a daily basis. You will be equipped with practical, concrete strategies to move from feeling overwhelmed by the threat of AI to confidently redesigning your assignments and assessments so AI
helps build student thinking instead of replacing it.

Learning Outcomes

  • Design teacher-facing chatbots to reduce hallucinations, increase alignment to your curriculum, and efficiently apply the science of learning to your classroom
  • Revise assessments to ensure students are doing the cognitive heavy lifting, not offloading to AI
  • Apply a proven framework for training students to evaluate the veracity of AI output
  • Create student-facing chatbots to help them improve their writing, prepare for debates, review for exams, and

      more

  • Develop a policy that clearly communicates to students and families the appropriate use of AI in your course
